Quarter Poems:

Every month is a new selection of four poems. They're available in Brattleboro at Everyone's Books (25 Elliott St) and The Twilight Tea Lounge (51 Main St). 25¢ each (4 per month).

Subscriptions also available for homebound and distance readers. $15/year, mailed quarterly.

March Quarter Poems have been sent down to Brattleboro. Pick yours up at The Twilight Tea Lounge. If you have a subscription at Everyone's Books, please pick up there.

These four are vernal equinox themed poems.

#45: "wassail" -- originally written at a wassail party in Marlboro where everyone blessed the apple trees with an original poem.

#46: "I hate spring for its caterpillars" -- a fun poem inspired by one I'd read years ago in Green Mountains Review about slugs and marigolds. They day after I printed these, I had a dream about caterpillars.. :(

#47: "hair newly cut is a flirtatious dress" -- some of you might remember this and the night I wrote it in writing group.

#48: "falling song" because when I can't come up with a title, I usually call it a song. Included because despite Spring's approach, about a foot of snow recently fell on my house.

February Quarter Poems
(Double LOVE Issue):

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Quarter Poems project, I returned to the LOVE theme, this time printed on a blood-red paper, for all your passionate needs.

#37: “I love the snow” -- modeled after one of H.L. Hix’s poems in his book, Rational Numbers.

#38: “Song for the Native” part 1 -- a series of quatrains I’ve been working on

#39: “Song for the Native” part 2

#40: “with you I am perfect, beautiful and kind”

#41: “all the places where I think of you”

#42: “what can I do with you on my mind” part 1 -- this series of poems were modeled after a long poem by John Yau, from his Borrowed Love Poems book.

#43: “what can I do with you on my mind” part 2

#44: “what can I do with you on my mind” part 3

There were no poems in Jan 2007, Dec 2006, or Nov 2006. Apologies.

-- Blayney Colmore

To have the devotion you clearly have, coupled with the talent you have, is such a blessing. Sink your teeth into it and never let go.
